A Chau Deli in NYC closing

A Chau has been my reliable banh mi provider for a few years now, so this is a big bummer for me. Luckily Baoguette is only a few blocks from work, but even still, this isn’t a positive improvement for the state of the banh mi in NYC.
I think it’s time for an all out banh mi showdown in NYC. First I’ve got to write up my Westchester Empanada report though…

Any news on whether A Chau is opening elsewhere? I need my A Chau banh mi!
Jennie, unfortunately, I don’t know if they’ve reopened anywhere. However, in its absence I’ve been enjoying the Banh Mi at Banh Mi Saigon on Mott (north of Canal), as well as Baoguette on Lex and 25th. Baoguette has been mixed though… sometimes the bread is perfect – brown and crusty – sometimes it’s pale and anemic. If they solved their consistency, it would be great.
